Ear Wax
Earwax is produced inside your ears to keep them clean and free of germs.
Earwax usually passes out of the ears harmlessly, but sometimes too much can build up and block the ears.
Microsuction
A fine suction tube is carefully inserted into the ear canal while being viewed closely through a microscope. Wax is removed from the ear by suction from the tube.
Blocked ears can be uncomfortable and unpleasant. Without treatment, the build-up of wax in the ear canal can mean that hearing becomes more difficult, as well as causing discomfort. Occasionally wax build up can cause pain, dizziness or tinnitus. If people wear hearing aids and their ears are blocked with wax this reduces the efficiency of the aids.
Microsuction is regarded as being much safer than ear syringing and has been used routinely for many years in hospital ENT departments to help clear the ears of people who have very sensitive ears, very narrow ear canals or ears that have been damaged by infections or trauma. Microsuction uses a suction probe to gently remove the wax from the ear canals. No water is used.
